Julie Lindow, Trainer
Julie, a native of Germantown who always had a love for all animals, began riding horses at the age of 8 years old. As a young adult, she discovered that she also had a love for teaching and sharing the joy of riding and developing a partnership with a horse with others. Julie went on to earn degrees in Equestrian Science and Business from William Woods University, a school well-known for it’s excellent equine program. Over the years, she has enjoyed competing successfully as both an amateur and then a professional, taking students to numerous horse shows across the country and here in the Memphis area. She has an earned reputation for being a patient teacher who makes learning fun and loves helping each rider grow to their potential.
Now as a mother of two young children, Julie is keeping her focus closer to home and enjoys teaching riders of all ages and experience levels at Shady Creek Farm – everything from how and why we groom, how to safely mount and dismount, how to understand the horses’ body language, what is dressage, how to jump a single jump or ride a complex jumper course, how being around horses can help us learn more about ourselves than we ever realized, and how at the end of the day it’s important to relax and just enjoy a trail ride = total horsemanship.
Leslie Gattuso, Trainer
Leslie grew up riding and showing in Germantown after relocating to Memphis in the early 70’s. Horses have always been a part of her life whether she was trail riding with friends at Hugh Frank Smith’s Horse & Pony Farm or competing in local or out of town horse shows as a junior rider into adulthood.
As a professional Leslie has worked at other local stables teaching beginners to more advanced riders. Her enthusiasm and nurturing temperament make her a student favorite…she truly loves teaching and watching students progress.
Leslie is the general manager of midtown favorite Café Society and has 2 children, Megan and Dylan. She lives in Collierville on a small farm with her own horse and student boarders.
