Homeschool Lessons and Clinics

We are excited to officially welcome homeschool families to Shady Creek! As a homeschool family ourselves, it seems only right to have classes tailored for our fellow homeschool students and families. So, starting last school year, in addition to the other lessons traditionally offered – private, mini-lessons, group lessons, couples and family rides – we started BOTH group riding lesson times and Clinics (a monthly topic-specific field trip for your student, family or group) set aside for homeschool students.

 Homeschool Small Group Riding Lessons:

$45/Group homeschool lessons (Please contact us for group lesson schedule. Days/ times can be available based on enrollment or consensus of best time for participants. Homeschool group classes are scheduled weekdays before 3:00 and therefore group students receive $5 discount off regular group rate.)

Pre-paid Lesson packages of 6 Group lessons are offered at an even greater discount of $37.50 per lesson = package price of $225

If your child is younger than 7 a mini-lesson may work better for them – please talk to Julie if you have any questions about what lesson type would work best for your family.

CONTACT JULIE with any questions or to schedule lesson time.

Shady Creek has both indoor & outdoor arenas so lessons are not cancelled due to typical weather conditions.

Please note: We offer various payment methods for services: Venmo (@George-Geerdes), cash or check.

The PayPal rates below do have a 3.5% service fee that will be included in checkout.

Weekly Lesson rate Per Lesson – $45

Homeschool Group Lesson Package of 6 group lessons – $225

The monthly learning events – Horsemanship Clinics and Get Out in Nature Field Trips will be offered on 3rd Friday’s 12:30 – 2:00 starting on Sept 17, 2021 – Basic Horse Grooming, Safety & Riding

Details about upcoming clinics will be posted on farm Facebook page. You may use PayPal button below (note $0.35 added to PayPal) or bring cash to farm on day of clinic.

More details:

Each horsemanship clinic will have a teaching & hand-on learning portion plus some riding time for each participant. These clinics will provide extra horsemanship skills practice for regular lesson students or a chance to learn something about horses and have some riding time for any homeschool student.

Sone months for our nature field trips, we will utilize the 25 acre farm and/or 900 acres of protected county land adjacent to the farm to explore a wide variety of topics & activities. There are easy walking (and horseback riding) trails throughout for exploring. Topics could include: wetlands & marshes, plant identification, pond habitat with fishing & paddle boating, goat/farm animal husbandry, local wildlife, new forest growth vs established woodlands, Wolf River habitat, outdoor skills/campfire cooking…many opportunities.

Horsemanship Clinic / Nature Field Trip per student – $10

The horsemanship clinics and nature field trips dates & topics will be updated on our Facebook page and also sent via email to those who request updates. These will not be limited to number of participants.

Family Friendly: we are a true family business with three generations helping on the farm. We value patience, respect, honesty and believe in the ability of each person to learn and achieve  their own individual successes.
